UPDATE: All available appointments booked...
KcHD: We have been receiving emails from the public to our Joint Information Center regarding vaccination appointments. Please note, anyone interested in receiving a vaccine appointment in the future must contact KCHD for appointments at 865-215-5555.
However, for this batch of appointments, KCHD has booked all allotted slots for this week. As expected, those appointments filled up extremely quickly. As we release additional vaccine, we will publish additional opportunities.
Press release...
KCHD to offer scheduled appointments for those 75 and older to receive COVID-19 vaccine
Knoxville, Tenn. – The Knox County Health Department is offering scheduled appointments this week for Knox County residents, who are 75 and older, to receive the first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
Walk-up appointments at KCHD’s main location (140 Dameron Ave.) will be scheduled for Tuesday (1/5), Thursday (1/7) and Friday (1/8) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those who qualify should call the KCHD Public Information Line at 865-215-5555 to schedule an appointment.
Individuals should bring a valid copy of their identification to their appointment.
The Public Information Line is experiencing a high volume of calls, so please be patient if it takes time to get through. Because of the high demand, appointments are expected to fill up quickly.
Additional vaccination opportunities for next week will be announced as more vaccine is received.
As stated previously, KCHD will be deploying multiple strategies to help provide vaccinations to our community, including large clinics and appointments. It’s important to remember that KCHD is just one of many providers who will eventually help make vaccine more widely available in the community. Much like COVID-19 testing at the beginning of the pandemic, it took time for it to be widely available. The best and most effective testing and vaccination strategy involves multiple distribution points in the market.

In Chattanooga they are administering 1,000 vaccines each day for their two days this week.
Just saw on the news, the
Just saw on the news, the first person to get their second vaccine dose. Yeah, it can happen.
Also, saw where Tennessee is one of four states that has administered more the 50% of the vaccines received.
From WBIR: The Knox County
From WBIR:
The Knox County Health Dept. said it booked all of its 225 available vaccine appointments for this week in a matter of hours. It said it will announce more appointment opportunities once it is able to release more vaccine.
I thought TN had the
I thought TN had the infrastructure to make this happen pretty easily. I guess not. If I remember correctly Gov. Lee said this months ago.
Vaccination infrastructure
(in reply to xmd)
Saturday, 46 Health Department employees as well as volunteers and the National Guard were all involved in the administration of the vaccines. Clearly help from the Sheriff's and Mayor's offices would have been helpful, assuming they weren't actively engaged in sabotaging the operation, which thus far, appears to be what they're best at.
I have full confidence in Dr. Buchanan to achieve the effective implementation of these vaccines, but you have to be realistic and look at how Jacobs and Spangler have undermined her efforts in the past. Let's not delude ourselves into thinking this is going to be easy just because its obviously the right and smart thing to do. That rationale has not gone very far as of yet.
Deep breaths and patience are the order of the day.
